Thanks for another fan-tass-tic year!

2022 was a massive year for TASS, with the announcement of our new mobile apps, huge team expansion, and a big shake-up to the way we develop and deliver software updates.

Alongside some major staff milestones, stacks of new features, and even more ways for customers to engage with our team, TASS managed to fit a lot of exciting things into 12 short months.

NEW DEVELOPMENT CYCLE

2022 brought a change to the way we develop and deliver software, with the goal of getting new features tested and available to schools faster.

In the past, TASS delivered 2 major releases each year - we've now switched to smaller and more regular releases, each of which could contain a mix of major enhancements, minor enhancements, fixes and other updates.

Trackone studio integration

Harness the power of your data with user-friendly analytics that support proactive, data-informed decision-making. Leveraging individual and school-wide academic, attendance, wellbeing, and extracurricular information, TrackOne's Learning Analytics Suite gives your staff the tools they need to drive pedagogical change, helping your school to unlock the potential of each student.

For those not familiar with TrackOne Studio's Learning Analytics Suite, the software consolidates data from various School Management and Learning Management Systems, to present real-time analytics for staff, students and parents.

The TrackOne-TASS integration takes this a step further with seamless navigation from the TASS Portals (for staff, students and parents) into the Learning Analytics Suite, making it easier to leverage data insights for more effective decision-making and goal-setting when and where you need it.

We launched a tonne of new features this year, with more enhancements coming every month thanks to the new development cycle.

Check out just some of these new major features below.

PARENT/CARER CALL ORDER

Reduce the risk of miscommunication regardless of a student's family situation, with the ability to set and prioritise which individuals should be contacted, and in what order. The new Call Order feature allows schools to set a hierarchy for each student's Communication Rule contacts, so that staff know who they should call at a glance.

LEARNING SUPPORT

Spread across multiple releases, a number of enhancements to the Learning Support module have been introduced to improve visibility for staff and reduce the time spent on the general administration of records. This includes new bulk maintenance tools for copying plans across years and study periods, and new email notification options.

PARENT PASTORAL CARE 

Schools can now define a range of Pastoral Care events to be visible in the Parent Portal, providing the school with a mechanism to request acknowledgement of Pastoral Care records. This offers improved transparency for parents, and ensures that schools can be confident that parents are aware of their child's activities at school.

SUPPORT FOR ALTERNATIVE ALPHABETS

Schools can now capture a student's name in languages other than English using a new field added to the Student Record. Supporting culturally diverse students and communities, this new field is designed to store names in other alphabets and character-based writing systems such as Hebrew, Arabic or Japanese, where they can be displayed in areas such as Academic Reports.

EXTERNAL CALENDAR SYNC

Users of the Staff Portal can now add their eDiary Calendar Feeds directly into an external calendar, with automatic updates via API. This allows you to combine your school commitments and personal events, helping you to stay organised across all platforms. The ability to sync calendar feeds was one of the most requested enhancements from the TASS forum!

WHAT'S IN STORE FOR 2023?

We've got a lot of exciting projects in the works, some big announcements, and more new features to improve the day to day lives of everyone who uses the TASS suite.

Check out some of our plans for 2023 below, and stay tuned for more updates as we share what we get up to in the new year.

ACADEMIC REPORTING PROJECT

In 2022, we delivered the first phase of the massive Academic Reporting Overhaul Project, with an initial focus on setup and back-end maintenance.

Working with our 11-school Advisory Group, we prioritised the features and changes that schools want the most.

Phase 2 is slated for release in early 2023, where the webBook Markbook will be migrated into the Staff Portal, giving staff all the tools they need in one location.

TASS ORBIT MOBILE APPS

TASS Orbit is a new range of mobile apps that will connect directly to your TASS system.

Development is being led by members of schools in our Special Interest Group, to ensure we're hitting the mark for the look, feel and functionality that schools need.

The first of these apps, for parents, is currently in development and will be released in 2023. After launch, features will continue to be added and developed alongside the existing TASS roadmap.
